Heading into the end of June

Why Hello!

Yes, it has been a while, I am fully aware of that. My blogging laziness has been a number of reasons: the first one is I just wasn't in the mood to write. I didn't forget about my blog, I just didn't feel like blogging! Then I started work and summer school which has kept me very busy since the beginning of June.

So what has been going on in the world. Well, in Chicago there has been one major event. This event comes down to one word: Blackhawks. The hawks are currently in the Stanley Cup Finals with Boston. We've lost 2 games, and need to win 3 more in order to take home the glory. Oh yeah, did I mention we're currently in OT with 5 to 5? Actually.... just kidding we just scored!!! Hawks win!! 6 to 5 what a game. I mean, I'm not exactly a sports person... but hey, this is a very exciting time. So, good on you hawks, keep it up, two more games.

Now to the life of Mary. I guess there are three major events happening at the moment. These events come down to three words: Work, Dad, and Tom.

Work essentially sucks. (Btw I'm a lifeguard) First off it was really cold to start with so that wasn't fun to sit in and overall I just feel a sense of under appreciation. There are three pools, I'm at the "middle skilled" pool which is really the other lower level pool, while the top pool is Big Surf which has waves in the pool. Essentially the best of the best go there, which is honestly total bull. It's actually who the manager's favorite go there, which results in putting those guards on a pedastal and treating everyone else like babies, including myself. Did I mention I've been there 3 years? All in all, this will probably be my last summer working there.

Next comes my Dad. Oh my father... I believe he's a good guy at heart, but has been more then ever showing his asshole, self-centered side, along with his crazy wife, Cindy. My parents are divorced, and my dad remarried. All in all he can just be very mean and say rude and hurtful things to me because I choose to stand my ground. Also Cindy is just a whack job with anger problems that's his "little cheerleader". Did I mention the irony of how they're basically born again Christians? I'll stop there.

Last but far from least is, Tom. Tom Tom Tom, my dear Tom. We met Feb. 2011 and started dating that June. We ended going to different colleges and broke up for about 4 months but got back together over winter break. It's been an insane time with this guy. This summer has been great, we have the most fun doing small, mostly silly things. Like walking around Busse woods and seeing the elk they have there, or saying "10 points each!" whenever we see people walking on the sidewalk while we're driving (hehe). These are the times I'm most happy with him. So yes it is a very fun and nice romance with him. Since college and recently, the fighting has increased, which used to worry me. You expect it from long distance but the times back home still got me. I think what I've come to realize is fighting is normal in a relationship, probably even healthy. It did scare me because we never did fight in high school, but I think now we're able to open up to each other so much more.

Tom and I in down town Chicago for our 2 year mark!

Things are looking more up. Next time I post, I'll try not to rant and feel sorry for myself haha :)

Bye Bye!

The First Post

So this is blogging! I don't exactly know what to come of it or what to say, so I guess this will be a learning process all together. I'll start with the basics:

I'm 19 and was raised in Chicago, IL, also having just finished my freshman year at the University of Missouri which is better known as Mizzou. Living in Missouri is crazy, but I love it. I've met many wonderful people and joined a great sorority where I have met some of my best friends.

All in all sounds like the typical college experience -- but of course I have my own twists and turns to add that make this great experience and my life, my own.

So let's see how this turns out! I hope I utilize this and don't treat it like my Pintrest account that I'll check out once every two months. Most importantly, I hope this doesn't always turn into a big rant fest, (NOTE always, there will definitely be some ranting) but a place where I can share my experiences as I grow, whether they be wonderful or tragic. I'm also a tad bit of a hippie, so I hope to get posts in about how life is beautiful in the coming days ;) Speaking of that, right now it's my favorite type of whether! Light rain and thunderstorm, but one where you can still hear the birds chirp. Then afterwards, the ground is wet, the sun comes out, and the smell of the wet Earth is all around and it is wonderful. <--- See? :)

Bye bye!
